Jean François Porchez designed the original Parisine typeface in 1996 for the Paris transport authority RATP to improve the legibility and ease of use of the public transport signage system.Parisine Plus was designed in 1999 to contrast with the overtly "neutral" design of Parisine. Parisine Plus features curved, slightly flourished terminals and subtly quirky touches, particularly in the italic. These touches do not compromise readability in text settings, but give the face a more warm, human, and distinctive feeling than the original Parisine.
Parisine Plus features extensive OpenType alternates and ligatures, disconnected forms, small capitals, four sets of figures, fractions, arrows, and other characters, which offer extensive typographic control from muted variations to extreme, colorful effects.
Each weight features more than 900 glyphs. For cross-platform compatibility, it follows Parisines arrangement of sub-families: Clair and its regular, italic, bold, bold italic; the standard and its 4 fonts; and the Sombre with its 4 fonts.

Jean François Porchez launched The Porchez Typofonderie (PTF) in 1994 in Malakoff, France as a retail channel for his type designs. In 1995 the first three faces were released: Apolline, Angie Sans and Anisette. PTF also offers digitizing services and produces custom typefaces to clients including Renault, La Banque Postale, and the House of Deréon, Beyoncé Knowles' fashion line.
About the designer:
After training as a graphic designer, during which he focused on type design, Jean François Porchez (born 1964) worked as a type director at Dragon Rouge. In 1994 he created a new typeface for Le Monde, the French newspaper of record. Today he designs custom typefaces for clients like the Baltimore Sun, Beyoncé Knowles, Costa Crocieres, France Télécom, Louis Vuitton, Peugeot, RATP (Public Transport in Paris), and distributes his retail typefaces internationally.
Jean François is hononary President of the Association Typographique Internationale and was ATypI President from 2004 to 2007. He has taught MA typeface design at Reading University and at ENSAD in France, and regularly conducts type design workshops all over the world. He also contributes regularly to conferences and international publications. He published Lettres Françaises, a book that shows all contemporary French, digital typefaces. In 2001 he was the President of a jury set up by the Ministère de lÉducation Nationale to select the new handwriting model and system for France and was a jury member of the 3rd Linotype Type design Contest. He founded the typographic community site Le Typographe in 2003.
Jean François has won numerous awards for his typefaces. FF Angie (1990) and Apolline (1993) were prize-winning entries in the Morisawa typeface competition. Costa received a Certificate of Excellence in Type Design at the Type Directors Club TDC2 2000 competition. Ambroise, Anisette, Anisette Petite, Charente, Le Monde Journal, and Le Monde Courrier were all prize-winning entries in the 2001 Bukva:raz international competition. Deréon and Mencken won Creative Review Type Awards in 2006. Parisine Office won a star at the Observeur du design 07.
Jean François Porchez was awarded the Prix Charles Peignot, given "to a designer under the age of 35 who has made an outstanding contribution to type design", in 1998.
