This is an updated release for Dolce, now a complete family containing a total of five weights, ranging from Thin to Black. In 2005 Elena Albertoni’s released Dolce Thin as part of an ongoing exploration of hand written letterforms that started with her typefaces Dyna and Scritta.Dolce is an attempt to arrive at a more naturally flowing type of handwriting, striking a balance between the orderly and the informal, while taking a critical look at the possibilities and limits of OpenType. Dolce uses OpenType functionality to achieve a strong sense of spontaneity. For more information please take a look at the Flash demo.
Dolce includes small caps, support for Central European languages, alternates and ligatures. .
In 2005 Dolce received the “Certificate of Excellence in Type Design” award from the Type Directors Club (TDC) of New York.
About the designers:
Based in Berlin, Anatoletype was founded in 2005 by Elena Albertoni (Italy) and Pascal Duez (France). “We are enthusiastic collectors of many kinds of vernacular type and image-making. We like to experiment with manual techniques, we love drawing and handwriting. We like to explore the possibilities of OpenType to give form to our ideas.”
